Quality Counts

Siskiyou

Why is Quality Important?

Research shows that children who attend high quality early childhood programs are happier, more confident, more successful, and better prepared for the future.  These children enter Kindergarten more focused, more comfortable in a school setting, and with skills to grow as learners.  It is often easier for them to form friendships, cooperate, resolve conflict and express themselves clearly and effectively.  In addition, they are more likely to graduate from high school, avoid juvenile delinquency, and earn higher salaries.

For Parents

What is Quality Counts Siskiyou?

Quality Counts Siskiyou (QCS) is a locally implemented quality rating and improvement system (QRIS).  It supports FFN's (family, friends and neighbors that provide child care), family child care homes, early childcare centers, preschools and playgroups, that voluntarily commit to continuous quality improvement.

Center ratings (based on state and nationally recognized standards) provide an additional tool for families as they find the best setting for their child.

For Providers

Quality Counts Siskiyou offers incentives, classroom equipment and materials, coaching, professional development, and peer learning opportunities for providers.
